Observership Experience

By Shailes Paudel

I had the incredible opportunity to undertake an externship at the Epic Heart and Vascular Center, under the expert guidance of Dr. Khan. It was an enriching experience that exceeded all my expectations. Throughout my time there, Dr. Khan’s mentorship and support played an instrumental role in shaping my understanding of cardiovascular medicine and research.

One standout moment during my externship was when I had the privilege of presenting a research paper on the gender-wise effect of LDL on cardiovascular risk. Dr. Khan was not only impressed by my presentation skills but also commended my in-depth knowledge and meticulous research. His words of encouragement and praise motivated me to further explore this fascinating topic, and I felt an immense sense of validation for my hard work.

Under Dr. Khan’s supervision, I was exposed to a wide range of complex cases, from routine check-ups to intricate surgical procedures. His dedication to patient care and his passion for advancing cardiovascular medicine were evident in every interaction. He consistently demonstrated exceptional clinical skills and a profound understanding of the field, making him an ideal mentor for aspiring healthcare professionals like myself.

Dr. Khan’s approach to teaching was both comprehensive and personalized. He took the time to explain intricate medical concepts, ensuring that I grasped the underlying principles. His ability to simplify complex ideas and his willingness to answer my questions nurtured a dynamic learning environment, which significantly enhanced my understanding of cardiovascular medicine.

Furthermore, Dr. Khan fostered a collaborative atmosphere within the team. He encouraged active participation, appreciated diverse perspectives, and valued everyone’s contributions. This inclusive environment empowered me to share my thoughts and ideas, fostering a sense of confidence and growth.

Throughout my externship, I witnessed Dr. Khan’s unwavering commitment to research and innovation. He introduced me to cutting-edge technologies and provided me with opportunities to participate in ongoing research projects. His emphasis on evidence-based practice and his ability to blend research with clinical care have inspired me to pursue further research in the field of cardiovascular medicine.

In conclusion, my externship experience at Epic Heart and Vascular Center under the guidance of Dr. Khan was truly remarkable. His expertise, dedication, and ability to nurture talent have had a profound impact on my career aspirations. I am immensely grateful for the invaluable lessons learned and the supportive environment that Dr. Khan cultivated. I wholeheartedly recommend this externship program to any aspiring medical professional seeking an exceptional learning experience in the field of cardiovascular medicine.
