Dr. Ayesha Arooj

Dr. Ayesha Arooj

My name is Ayesha Arooj and I am an international medical graduate from Pakistan. I had the opportunity to rotate with Dr. Muhammad Usman Khan in the month of June 2025. It was an experience that has left a profound and lasting impact on both my clinical understanding and personal growth. I had the privilege of working with Dr. Khan in both inpatient and outpatient settings, gaining exposure to a wide spectrum of cardiac care.

In the outpatient clinic, I learned key aspects of patient interactions, history taking, and diagnostic techniques like ultrasounds and echocardiography and observe a range of procedures including venous ablation techniques. Dr. Khan also helped me navigate the complexities of Electronic Medical Records, reinforcing skills that are essential for modern practice.

During inpatient rotations across two different hospitals, I encountered patients in the cardiac wards, CCU, and emergency department, an opportunity that enhanced my appreciation for varying cardiac presentations and the tailored management each case requires. I was honoured to observe Dr. Khan perform cardiac catheterizations in the operating theatre, witnessing interventional cardiology in action.

Despite his demanding schedule, Dr. Khan goes out of his way to support students, generously offering opportunities for observership and mentorship. He creates an environment of growth and learning encouraging students to ask questions and engage in critical thinking. Beyond his clinical excellence, Dr. Khan is an incredibly kind and humble physician. His professionalism, patience, and genuine commitment to teaching set a powerful example of what it means to be both an outstanding physician and an inspiring role model. Being his student was a privilege, not only did he teach me cardiology, but he also shared valuable life lessons that I will carry with me throughout my career.
