My rotation with Dr. Khan at Epic Heart and Vascular Institute was a wholesome package of physician making. During this experience, I had the opportunity to actively participate in patient evaluations, formulate management plans, and observe procedures such as saphenous vein ablation with Venaseal, Varithena, and RFA. I also observed a variety of cardiac tests, including transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms, angiography, and PCI, and learned how to document HPIs and create detailed management plans on EMR. I gained exposure to patient rounds and international standards of procedures such as angiography and PCI. My knowledge was further enhanced through homework tasks and presentations on topics such as pacemakers vs. defibrillators, IFR vs. FFR, LDL targets in IHD patients, and coronary risk stratification, as well as by interpreting EKGs and stress perfusion imaging. Throughout the rotation, I was punctual, dressed professionally, and respectful to all staff members, which helped me strengthen my decision-making, teamwork, and overall clinical and professional growth.
