My observer ship experience under the guidance of Dr khan an excellent cardiologist, was an enriching journey that profoundly impacted different aspects of my learning and personal growth. Dr khan’s passion for cardiology and his dedication to patient care were evident, and these qualities left an indelible mark on my own approach to medicine.
Throughout my rotation Dr. Khan exemplified the qualities of an awesome mentor and physician. I also had the opportunity to learn about the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system at Epic Heart and Vascular Centre. Gaining proficiency in this healthcare tool provided me with a detailed introduction to US health care system. .I was able to witness numerous tests likes Echo, nuclear cardiac testing, stress test and mobile cardiac telemetry.
Dr khan and the whole staff was so encouraging that they always help us understand the whole procedure and also ask questions which helps in critical thinking. I was able to witness numerous outpatient procedures like Varithena, Venaseal and Venous ablations, as well as inpatient procedures like Cardiac Catheterization and Angiography, and Coronary Angioplasty with stent placement. This whole experience of watching all these procedures was very inspiring and mesmerizing. During and after procedures he always asks questions which helped me a lot. One of the best achievements there was my improvement in ECG interpretation. Dr khan’s helped me interpreting ECG’s and I learned every bit of it from him.
I was able to attend rounds with him at hospital, he possessed a unique blend of exceptional skills and an empathetic bedside manner that immediately put patients at ease. His dedication to his profession was evident in every aspect of his work. Despite his busy schedule, he always found time to engage with patients, listening intently to their concerns and providing them with clear explanations about their conditions and treatment options.
He encouraged us to frequently read up on numerous articles in cardiac journals such as AHA, NEJM and JACC. I had the opportunity to present an article named “Time to benefit patients with Worsening heart failure with Sotagliflozin which was a remarkable learning experience for me.
