Over the course of two months, I gained invaluable experience and improved my skills under his guidance. Working in the hospital and outpatient settings, I had experience with electronic medical record (EMR) software and engaged in discussions on cutting-edge innovations. I performed tasks typically assigned to medical students or residents and providing consultations. This experience expanded my knowledge and enhanced my communication and teamwork skills.
During my time with Dr. Khan, I had the opportunity to witness and actively participate in various cardiac procedures and vein interventions. These experiences deepened my understanding of electrocardiograms, echocardiography, and cardiac anatomy. I learned from stress tests, and echocardiograms and witnessed the administration of Repatha and other vein procedures. Dr. Khan’s skilled technicians provided excellent instruction, enriching my learning experience.
Under Dr. Khan’s mentorship, I acquired knowledge that surpassed what any book could offer. I spent insightful days with healthcare professionals like ultrasonographers, medical assistants, and nurse practitioners, learning about pathologies and their underlying causes. Reading articles from esteemed cardiac journals further expanded my knowledge.
This rotation solidified my dream of pursuing cardiology as a tangible reality. Dr. Khan appreciated my decision-making abilities, hard work, and leadership and teaching skills.
