I rotated with Dr Khan for 4 weeks in Dec 2022 at Epic Cardiovascular Center and HCA Houston. I found Dr Khan to be the perfect mentor – exceptionally knowledgeable, professional, humble and willing to guide his observers. The love he has for his work is evident and he is dedicated to providing exemplary care to his patient. With his observers, particularly IMGs, he places special emphasis on getting acquainted with the EMR and the work environment in the clinic and the hospital.
During my rotation I shadowed Dr Khan during rounds in the hospital, developed more confidence in using the EMR and witnessed several procedures in the Cath lab (cardiac catheterization, TTE, TEE, PCI, and Impella Heart Pump placement) and clinic (Venoseal, Varithena). I was also asked by Dr Usman to deliver a presentation on Syncope based on the AHA / ACC / AACVPR / AAPA / ABC / ACPM / ADA / AGS / APHA / ASPC / NLA / PCNA Guidelines and was given very useful and constructive feedback.
My biggest take away from this observer ship has been getting an in depth look into the healthcare environment in the US and as an IMG I am incredibly grateful for this experience. I also am glad to have observed Dr Khan’s professional demeanor and incredible work ethic. I would definitely recommend students/IMGs to rotate with Dr Khan.
