I had the privilege of completing a four-week rotation in interventional
\ncardiology during the month of March 2024 with Dr. Usman Khan<\/a>, and I
\nmust say that it was an invaluable experience. Throughout the
\nobservership, I had the opportunity to work closely with Dr. Khan who
\nis not only expert in his field but also deeply committed to teaching and
\nmentoring.
\nThe observership provided me with a comprehensive exposure to
\nvarious interventional procedures, including coronary angiography,
\npercutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), VenaSeal, Venous
\nUltrasound and Radiofrequency thermal ablation along with
\ninterpretation of complex cardiovascular tests like nuclear stress test,
\nEcho and EKG.
\nDr. Khan involved us in learning new clinical practices and had us
\ndeliver presentations on topics such as Duke treadmill score,
\nAntiarrhythmic drugs, Lerieche syndrome, AHA guidelines on stable
\nischemic heart disease, various CVS benefits of SGLT-2 drugs and their
\nsignificance.
\nThrough this observership I got both the hospital and clinic exposure.
\nDr. khan was very kind to take me with him to the hospital rounds
\nwhere I observed various procedures like cardioversion, bubble study,
\nperipheral vessel orbital atherectomy for PAD and transesophageal
\nechocardiogram. Dr. Khan even asked his colleagues to let us observe
\nany new procedures like Micra implantation procedure and atrial flutter
\nablation. Furthermore, Dr. Khan provided us with thorough instruction
\non utilizing the EMR system daily and allowed us to practice daily by
