Working as a clinical extern introduced me to the US health system, its multidisciplinary clinical practice, evidence-based learning, patient counseling, and safety protocols. I learned EMR, honed my history taking and physical examination skills, formulated management plans for common cardiovascular conditions, including hypertension, chronic heart failure, obstructive sleep apnea, and atrial fibrillation.<\/p>\n

The experience enhanced my problem-solving abilities, helped me understand the crux of medicine. I learned the importance of diversity and inclusivity in patient centered care.<\/p>\n

Overall, it made me realize how multidisciplinary quality care teams can improve life expectancy and reduce morbidity by utilizing cutting-edge and innovative healthcare technology. My understanding of EKG and echocardiograms got amplified.<\/p>\n

One of the pearls of this rotation was getting my knowledge updated with current treatment guidelines for cardiac conditions.
